In this section you will find useful documents, including the school annual report.

This section also includes information on how Slade Point State School provides programs and initiatives related to child safety, learning support, students with disabilities, guidance and counselling.

Child safety

Each year our staff utilise the services of our school adopt-a-cop and Mackay police education unit supported by students from the CQU performing Arts Department to implement the "protective behaviours" program with our year 3 students.
Our school adopt-a-cop addresses all our prep to year 2 children in the first week and regularly throughout the year on' protective and safe behaviours around school.'
Inclusive Education
Inclusive Education at Slade Point State School is about all every student succeeding by feeling welcomed; provided with the equal learning opportunities; feeling engaged and ultimately achieving. We do this by offering the following:

Learning support and Students with Disability

Our school has a full time 'Diverse Learners Coordinator' who is part of our school leadership team. Our 'DLC' is highly skilled in literacy and numeracy working with identified students in all classes. Their focus is developing the literacy and numeracy needs of all students in the classes that they visit. They also play a key role in supporting teachers with further strategies and ideas to extend the literacy and numeracy needs of their students.
The 'DLC' role at Slade Point State School offers a comprehensive educational service meeting the needs of students with a disability in an educational setting of a mainstream classroom. Complementing this service our 'DLC' also supports students requiring specialised medical care such as diabetes, asthma and epilepsy.

Guidance and counselling

Our school also offers a guidance and counselling service to our students through the staffing of a guidance officer who works in the school 1 day a week. Our guidance officer offers invaluable support to our school community and is a very valued resource in our school, supporting the needs of our students, parents and staff.

Parent and Community Engagement Framework

The department's Parent and community engagement framework helps students, schools, parents and the community to work together to maximise student learning and wellbeing. Research shows parent and community engagement that is effectively focused on student learning can deliver powerful outcomes (OECD, 2011). Refer to our Parent and Community Engagement Framework.
